80's Random pictures.

Andy Jordan at krts house, Cody Kreisel in Eau Claire at a bike contest - not sure why he's on the board as we all know Cody busted up his skull a few times and Doc. mentioned to stay off bikes.. but skateboards Cody?  Kevin Sisco in Moorehead at the halfpipe jam, Mark Miller in his backyard in Coon Rapids, MN.  Todd Miska and Ron Herman on the small ramp at Dave's sport shop in Fridley, MN. Two pictures of Mike Sopkowiak (skovy for short). Dirt jumping in blaine, MN and racing at Brooklyn Park. The newspaper clipping is of 4 Blaine BMX racers entering the Robinson Northern Lights Championship at the St. Paul Civic Center back in May of 81. That was a sweet race! The 1975 Ford Ranchero was powered by the famous 460 engine. The ramps were carried by some Kelly 50's on the rear and air shocks for that quick jacked up look. This beast was driven hard and laid plenty of rubber at various parking lots. The light rear end was fun driving, especially in winter. YA - in winter too. The end of the Ranchero came with several smashes, a bad restoration job and a worthless trade-in on a truck! I remember seeing the beast a year later in some used car parking lot looking like a tired old dog!

Have a good day!

Found this picture from 85 or 86, my memory is like an old mower blade - it may cut it but yikes!
Hoffman, Moliterno Penn Cycle Minnesota? If you know please email - thanks, Dale.

Just some random shots, 2010 Faction Bloomington skatepark - not sure about Santa already!

Minnesota Faction 2010 event was super sweet!

Mikko put on a great show this past Saturday 2010! Lots of prizes, contests, food and fun with old schoolers from Minnesota. One thing I noticed was how all the riders my age remind me of my dad when I was young. Getting old is crazy with all the old schoolers having kids riding too! The event was in Bloomington at the outdoor skatepark off Portland and 90th Ave. The event was very well organized but also very laid back and fun! Finally, after loading up the truck with food and bikes, we showed up around 1:30 or so and things were well on their way with prizes already being handed out, so my wife and I chased my son around on the street ramps and his little 12" bike swooshed right up to coping with his training wheels and all. Mom was their to give a push to the little radster up and over to roll down the other side - and the young trickster was good to go!

Well, I do have several pictures of the event and will post some of them as soon as I get the images tweaked to the right size. Good talkiing to you Mikko, JT, Brian, Paul - and several other old schoolers with dreams of owning all the sweet bikes shining in my eyes that day bring back old school memories of Minnesota racing, trails, jumps, crashes, ko muddy trails, (ko is an old gas station that had a nice track behind it located in Blaine) ditches, cars we jumped and old school bike we trashed!

Until next time...MFS OLD SCHOOL BMX THIS IS HOW WE ROLL - REUNION JUNE 2011 IS COMING

Have spent most of the morning making it easier to add pictures. I now have a better way of adding them using tables and html. The other was really slow, having to add them right on the site. Using dreamweaver, a program I bought years ago for some other websites. My website skills are bad. With dreamweaver you can be bad, and learn very fast.
Also, the Minnesota Faction is having another event today. I missed the last couple but really would like to try and attend one of those, they look fun! My buddy Brian will be there and he will be sending me a story of the event along with pictures like he did last year.
Well, thats it for now and I will be working on this site to improve the contents and add pictures when I have time.

Well it's been awhile since my last upload of info and news. Unfortunately for health reasons I have been unable to Blog in the last 8 months. The good news is, my health has been improving and I can continue uploading BMX photo's, videos And information for this website. Thank all of you who have visited this website. I would love to hear from you riders from the past and present.

If you have any things planned email and I will post it right away!

In no order I will be going through my pictures, videos and maybe some old bmx stuff and getting it up on this website.

Saturday Morning found me driving (with a van full of bikes and old bike parts) to Bloomington, MN for the 4th Annual Minnesota Faction BBQ. I didn’t know what to expect as this was the first time in my adult life I would be attending any BMX related event. I have been buying, selling and collecting vintage BMX related items for a few years now and I had no inkling when I got started, that this hobby was going to blow up like it has…  I am not big on crowds and do not like a lot of attention… So I have always found one excuse or another to skip events like this. I finally decided it was time to step out a little and go see what the Faction was all about. I was greeted as soon as I walked into the park by a few of the Faction guys. Mikko, Ditchweed and Matt?  I had a good time checking out the awesome old school rides and shooting it with some cool people like Christine, Travis, JT, Mikko and Ditchweed.
Shawn O brought out his killer Haro collection… I am very envious Shawn!  JT had some sweet Torkers, Redlines, Tahoes, and a very sick 1984 CW California Freestyler (bring your luggage!) There were just too many cool rides to comment on here… you will have to check out the pics!

It rained on and off all day and I wondered if the rain was going to deter people from coming out but there was a pretty good turnout. The Faction guys did a great job setting up the event and kept our attention on other things. Attractions included things like the high hop contest (which I participated in briefly, but we won’t discuss that lol!), The longest skid contest that involved shredding a Debbie Gibson LP. And of course a wet and squeaky game of Foot down in witch Mr. Ditchweed prevailed on his killer Quad cruiser. Try saying killer quad cruiser 10 times fast… lol!

There were many great prizes handed out over the coarse of the day too…like NOS Shimano pedals, California Lite pad sets, Oakley Grips, T Shirts and new school bike parts etc… it was cool!

Juan Mattos of BMX Addicts supplied a lot of killer stuff for prizes! – Thanks Juan! I had my sights locked on the grand prize… A Green 1985 Haro Master Frame and Fork!  I didn’t win the Master, I still can’t believe it… Oh well there is always next year! If you haven’t made it out to one of these events, (Ahem Dale!) you owe it to yourself to get out and have a good time. The faction knows how to do it up right! - BL

The Dyno trick team stopped in to this MFS contest at Penn Cycle in Minnesota back in 87, helping out with judging and just having a good time with the riders.

Sounds like the event for Minnesota Faction was a success. I missed it due to a friend in the hospital. I really would like to make one of these old school events soon.

My friend Brian Larson attended the event and was very glad he went as it sounds like it was a blast. Really would like to see the tire skid contest! Brian will be sending me some pictures and commenting on the event for posting here sometime very soon.

Until then, old is rockin!

Well it looks as thought the first one uploaded.

Here is some info most of you already know. Was going to buy an old Haro Freestyler on Ebay and almost fell over at the prices. Looks like used ones are even double the price they used to be. Better look in the pole barn for all those used bmx parts!
